Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was a peace maker!
“I Have A
Dream! That my four little children will one day live in a nation where we will
not be judged by the colour of our skin but by the content of our character! I
Have A Dream!”
Born on
January 15th 1929 Dr Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Pastor,
activist and prominent leader in the African-American civil rights movement. He
was born a black man in a white society where there was supposedly no space for
him or any of his ‘kind’ in the world of the white people.
From the moment he
was first discriminated against, King was certain he was going to do anything
he could possibly do to close the gap between whites and blacks. King traveled over 9 million kilometres where he spoke of peace 2500 times to people of
injustice as well as writing 5 books. King was the proud leader of ‘The Peaceful
March’ in Washington DC where he addressed 250,000 people with his life
changing speech ‘I Have A Dream’. He continuously thought up ways he
could improve our society and promote anti-racialism even when he was arrested
more than 20 times and physically assaulted at least 4 times. King also received
the Noble Peace Prize in 1964.
On the
afternoon of April 4th 1968 King was ready to lead yet another protest
of peace when he was sadly assassinated. King died a peace maker and I’m very
sure God would have proudly called him his son. It is because of people like
King that we have a better and more equal society today.
